Citizens in western North Carolina came together yesterday and protested the Mexican Consulate issuing Identification to 400 or so Mexicans yesterday in Hendersonville, North Carolina:
Among the groups participating were The Action Club, ALIPAC, NC Listen, and congressional candidate Carl Mumpower. The videographer was Richard Bernier who has a public access show called Sound Off Buncombe on URTV. The show airs on Charter Cable channel 20 in Buncombe and Madison counties.
**update** I forgot to add Paul Purdue to the list. He is a candidate for NC House District #115.

Carol Yerkes’ son, Jay Yerkes, was murdered on April 24, 2004 on Lexington Avenue in Asheville, North Carolina by Mark Elkins. The murderer worked a plea deal with notorious D.A. Ron Moore, and received 16 month sentence for Involuntary Manslaughter, a class F felony on December 16, 2004, according to court records.
Mark Elkins has been released from prison and is wanted on charges of armed robbery.
Carol has now started an advocacy group called Justice Advocates for You, and Richard Bernier, of URTV‘s Sound Off Buncombe was there:
For more information about this case, the Mountain Xpress had an excellent article about it last month.
And WLOS has a video report.

At the April 2008 Action Club meeting, some candidates spoke before the group, and Richard Bernier, co-host of Sound Off Buncombe (airs on URTV), was there to record them.
I will add the videos as they are uploaded into playlists to WNC Citizens Blog, and linking to them from here.

Sound Off Buncombe‘s Richard Bernier has released his version of the Buncombe GOP Lincoln-Reagan Day Dinner, including the Senator Dole Speech from Feb 23rd. It will air on URTV soon…so get a sneak peek here!
I am thankful that we have Richard to capture some of these moments for the people who are unable to attend these events. And, hopefully, soon we will have more people available to cover these events so we don’t have to work Richard to death!

Justice Robert Orr, candidate for North Carolina Governor, sat down with Richard Bernier and Randy Thomas on a URTV program “Sound Off Buncombe.”
It runs about 30 minutes.
