Freedom Works Visits Congressman Shuler’s Office

Posted by Thunder Pig on May 22, 2008

Some members of the Buncombe County Chapter of Freedom Works visited Congressman Heath Shuler’s Asheville Office to deliver an earmark pledge for the Congressman to consider signing.

Local video producer, and co-host of Sound Off Buncombe (check URTV for air times) was also there to record the event.

Bill Lack gives an explanation of what Freedom Works is about at the end of this 10 minute preview of a 30 minute program to air in June.

W Stabs Base in Back

Posted by Thunder Pig on June 1, 2007

OK, I’m through. I will no longer defend the President in public or private conversations. I have already quit sending the NRC and NRSC money, and haven’t yet written off the NRCC…their reaction to this “Immigration Reform” will be The Litmus Test for me.

Reactions from around the internet:

WASHINGTON (Map, News) – President Bush wants Congress
to approve an immigration compromise bill that will be supported mainly by Democrats. He’s no longer worried about getting re-elected, so in his pushing for the bill’s passage, Bush has now told millions of voters to get lost. These are the people who have been his most loyal supporters on virtually every other issue.

Yet Bush now condemns them as unwilling to do “what’s right for
America” and accuses their allies in Congress of using “empty rhetoric” to misrepresent the bill as a form of amnesty for illegal aliens. Bush appealed for “a chance to fix the problems in a comprehensive way that enforces our border and treats people with decency and respect.”

We don’t see how it is either decent or respectful to label critics of the immigration bill as unpatriotic and intellectually dishonest.
In the most fundamental sense, the debate is not about whether people from foreign countries should be allowed to come here and
become American citizens. In a post-9/11 world, the critical debate is about securing our borders; everything else is secondary.

Coalition for a Conservative Majority

Posted by Thunder Pig on March 16, 2007

Tom Delay has formed a new conservative grassroots organization called Coalition for a Conservative Majority.

I heard most of the interview with Rush Limbaugh today, and, after a quick glance at the home page…it looks promising.

He also has a book out, “No Retreat, No Surrender.”

From the website:

In 2006, conservatives were beaten at the polls for the first time in years. But unlike in previous defeats, conservatives this time were beaten at what we have always done best: grassroots organization, coordination, and mobilization. The grassroots playbook that helped create the conservative majorities of Ronald Reagan in the 1980s, the Republican Congress of the 1990s, and George W. Bush in the 21st century failed for the first time to outwork liberals.

For six years now, former leaders of the Clinton Administration have studied and surpassed the conservative grassroots network, creating a liberal coalition unprecedented in its size, scope, and funding. This is the network that beat conservatives in 2006 and handed Congress back to the Democrat Party – and that was just the warm-up. The liberal Shadow Party has been built for one reason: to elect Hillary Clinton President of the United States in 2008. They have the money, the organization, and the coordination to do it, and there is no conservative network capable of standing in its path. Until now.

The Coalition for a Conservative Majority is a results driven grassroots action and information organization, the first such conservative organization worthy of the name. We will not be content to organize fund-raising databases or provide perches for figure-head leadership. Instead, CCM will: IDENTIFY, RECRUIT, TRAIN, INSPIRE, ACTIVATE, and MOBILIZE conservatives to take specific action on policy issues and political causes across the country.
