LA Earthquake Data Now Called Chino Hills Quake

Posted by Thunder Pig on July 29, 2008

An earthquake hit Los Angeles this morning (5.4 Magnitude), and here are a few places on the web you can go for more data:

USGS Info

USGS Main Website

KNBC Live Stream (LA TV Station)

LA Fox 1 Live Stream

LA Fox 2 Live Stream

The Live Streaming pages require a broadband connection and probably Windows Media Player.

**update** 5.04 PM I noticed on the live feeds that the reporters are calling this quake the Chino Hills quake. Also…LA Fox 2 is not active currently. It may be brought back up in case of breaking news.

I don’t know how familiar you are with Southern California, TP, but if that quake were any stronger, the Prado Dam would have gone kablewey, potentially flooding a good chunk of Orange County in the process.

I have a cousin who lives out there, and think he is crazy.

One of these days, the big one will come, and the party will be over.

Living in earthquake country and flood plains is not, in my opinion, a smart thing to do.
