Tim Russert Dead of Heart Attack

Posted by Thunder Pig on June 13, 2008

Tim Russert, who pointedly but politely questioned hundreds of the powerful and influential as moderator of NBC’s “Meet the Press,” died Friday of an apparent heart attack. The network’s Washington bureau chief was 58.

In addition to his weekly program, Russert made periodic appearances on the network’s other news shows, was moderator for numerous political debates and wrote two best-selling boooks.

NBC interrupted its regular programming to announce Russert’s death, and in the ensuing moments, familiar faces such as Tom Brokaw, Andrea Mitchell and Brian Williams took turns mourning his loss.

This is sad. I considered Russert an ideological opponent, and am saddened to hear of his passing at such a young age, he was 58 years old.

Action Alert—Laura Ingraham Taken Off Air

Posted by Thunder Pig on June 13, 2008

From my inbox:

Popular radio talk show host Laura Ingraham has been taken off the air with no explanation.

Laura’s show is one of the top five most popular talk radio shows in the nation. Laura is a solid conservative voice on the air.

She is gone with no explanation. All anyone knows is that it is not her choice.

If radio networks can yank a conservative voice who is that popular, they can do it to Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity or anyone else.

Liberals are again agitating to shut down conservative talk radio. They have been pushing “diversity” regulations through the FCC to do just that. Taking out Laura Ingraham is just a step along the way toward shutting down conservative talk radio totally.

Here is a station guide for Laura Ingraham. Please call your local affiliate and tell the station you want Laura Ingraham back on the Laura Ingraham show.

You can stop liberals from shutting down talk radio by standing up for Laura Ingraham.

Sincerely yours,

Gingrich on Solutions to High Fuel Prices

Posted by Thunder Pig on June 13, 2008

This (high fuel prices, and the Democratic support of same) should be the thing the this entire election season revolves around.

We should dump half of our Strategic Reserve on the World market. The Democrats should agree to this, because they supported the idea in 2005, and more recently, Speaker Nancy Pelosi called for us to stop adding to the Strategic Reserve, so she understands the effect that putting more oil on the market will lower prices. Wonder why she won’t let us put millions of barrels of oil on the market every day? What does she have against $2 a gallon gasoline?

Compare the Democratic and Republican plans:

Ron Paul Wakes Up, Quits Bid For President

Posted by Thunder Pig on June 13, 2008

After wringing the last possible dime from his supporters, Ron Paul has joined the Huckster, Romney, and other Republicans and formed a PAC of his own, after quitting the race for President.

The mission of his new PAC:

The mission of the Campaign for Liberty is to promote and defend the great American principles of individual liberty, constitutional government, sound money, free markets, and a noninterventionist foreign policy, by means of educational and political activity.

Ron Paul is sadly lacking in his understanding of the importance for us to engage the enemy from a forward posture instead of hiding in our homeland, and giving him the rest of the world. If Ron Paul had been President during World War II, Europe’s fate would have been decided between the Soviets and the Nazis, and hundreds of millions more people would have died, and billions condemned to live under slavery before we joined them.

I will be very interested in seeing how many of his local supporters go through with their plans to leave the GOP, and join the hopeless campaign of Bob Barr, or help the insignificant Libertarian Party of North Carolina by enrolling as members, and running for local and state offices, or campaigning for Libertarian candidates…the only way any party is successful.

So, my question is, will they work, or will they whine?
